This article analyses the characteristics and functioning of the Kagnon farm, a small associational fish production farm in northern Côte d'Ivoire. The aim of this rural fish farm is to produce market-size tilapia Oreochromis niloticus (at least 250 grams) for the local market. In a regional aquaculture context characterised by the failure of many previous fish farms, the setting up of this farm is an interesting initiative. The study is based on a methodological approach based on documentary research and a field survey. In the analysis, the results highlight the use by fish farmers of endogenous know-how and materials. Moreover, the distribution and marketing area of the production is still small, limited to a few localities close to the farm.

Cet article analyse les caractéristiques et le fonctionnement de la ferme Kagnon, un petit élevage associatif de production piscicole dans le nord de la Côte d’Ivoire. Le but de cette pisciculture rurale est de produire des tilapias Oreochromis niloticus de taille marchande (250 grammes au moins) pour le marché local. Dans un contexte aquacole régional caractérisé par un constat d’échec de nombreuses exploitations piscicoles antérieures, la mise en activité de cette ferme se présente comme une initiative intéressante. L’étude s’appuie sur une approche méthodologique basée sur la recherche documentaire et une enquête de terrain. À l’analyse, les résultats mettent en exergue une utilisation par les pisciculteurs, de savoir-faire et de matériaux endogènes. Par ailleurs, l’aire de distribution et de commercialisation de la production reste encore peu étendue, limitée à quelques localités proches de la ferme.
