[ Place des TIC dans l’enseignement en médecine dentaire : Etude exploratoire auprès de 60 étudiants ]

Background: The integration of Information and communication technology (ICT) is crucial for increasing the learning quality for students. Objective: To investigate the perception of students in Dental Medicine towards the use of ICT in teaching Dental Medicine, to assess their effect of easing the learning therefore to detect the best appreciated method in teaching. Method: Our study is an exploratory retrospective survey questioning 60 dental students in the second year of studies in the Faculty of Dental medicine of Casablanca. Results: 88% of students were satisfied after integration of ICT in the practice teaching compared to the classical methods. However, only 45 % of students preferred the video projections alone compared to the practice demonstration around the educator. Out of which, 71% of students raised the benefit of the des videoconferences saved in the eLearning platform as a tool of previous preparation of the practice tasks and confirmed the d’un mixt teaching combining the ITC (video demonstration) and the live practice demonstration. Subsequently, the questioned students proposed other fields of exploitation and application of ICT in teaching dental medicine. Conclusion: The integration of ICT by using les Video-projections during the practice works for the students in dental medicine has showed a benefit and easing effect on their learning. However their exclusive use isn’t sufficient, and will not allow replacing the classical methods of teaching but can complete them for a better assimilation.

Contexte: L’intégration des technologies de l’information et de la communication est un maillon nécessaire pour l’amélioration de la qualité d’apprentissage des étudiants. Objectif: Explorer la perception des étudiants en Médecine Dentaire vis-à-vis de l’utilisation des TIC en enseignement de médecine dentaire, évaluer leur effet facilitateur sur l’apprentissage et par conséquent détecter la méthode pédagogique la plus appréciée. Méthode: Notre étude est une enquête rétrospective exploratoire portant sur 60 étudiants en Médecine Dentaire en deuxième année à la faculté de Médecine Dentaire de Casablanca. Résultats: 88% des étudiants étaient satisfaits après l’intégration des TIC aux TP par rapport aux méthodes classiques. Toutefois, seuls 45 % des étudiants ont préféré les projections vidéo seules par rapport aux démonstrations pratiques au tour de l’encadrant. Parmi eux, 71% des étudiants ont soulevé l’intérêt des vidéo-conférences enregistrées dans la plateforme comme outil de préparation préalable des travaux pratiques et ont confirmé l’intérêt d’un enseignement mixte aux TP associant TIC et démonstrations pratiques. D’autre part, les étudiants questionnés ont proposé d’autres domaines d’intérêt et d’application des TIC seules en enseignement de médecine dentaire. Conclusion: L’intégration des TIC à travers les Vidéo-projections aux travaux pratiques des étudiants en Médecine Dentaire s’est révélée bénéfique et facilitatrice de leur apprentissage. Cependant son utilisation exclusive ne serait pas suffisante, ne permettrait pas de remplacer les méthodes classiques, mais pourrait les compléter afin d’avoir une meilleure assimilation.
